It is very common to get a cold or flu during spring/fall/winter. The colder times of the year - there is a reason we call it a cold. Ayurvedically speaking, colds are a kapha-vata disorder in which the body builds up an excess of cool and moist qualities, resulting in congestion, runny nose, cough, and sometimes body aches or fever. Excess vata leads to loss of appetite, low agni/metabolism, and even chills.
The BEST remedy for colds is GINGER. It will help the body digest and metabolize the foreign invader and cut through a lot of the symptoms.
Try a freshly grated ginger, cinnamon, lemongrass tea
Freshly grated ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom
Fresh ginger, lemon, and honey
All can be served with honey, once the tea has become cool enough to drink.
Here are some of my favorite cold/flu supplements i keep in my cabinet AND never travel without! (especially the first 3) :)
